Hi I have a 94 Deville and the trunk release buttons on both the interior and the keyless entry wont pop my trunk. I know before I brought the car somebody had broken out the lock and stole the sound system but I recently went to a scrap yard and picked out a spare trunk lock and re-installed it. I also checked all the fuses and they're all good. The trunk pull down switch works and the actual lock that I got from the scrap yard functions too. Does anybody know where the trunk release mechanism is, as maybe im overlooking it, or any suggestions on what I should do next?

The electric solenoid that releases the latch should be mounted to the latch.

There is a safety bypass on some GM cars to prevent the trunk from opening other than the key. Open the trunk and look up at the lock area where the cable is going in. See if there is a plastic rectangular box there with a tab that can be pulled out of one end. Pull out the tab until you see a red stripe and see if the remotes work then. This is a safety feature to prevent someone from reaching in and opening your trunk from the inside lever when you are parked with the windows down.

well if you have a key for the trunk u can go head and open it that way. once open get some wd40 spray and spray it on the locking mechanism which should be directly above your head when u open the trunk.alot fo times this parts get coated with dust and are hard to move wd40 takes care of that.also check if it makes noise by pushing and reliasing the trunk button.and if it does lock when u push the trunk button then u are gonna have to open the lock manually using a flat head screw driver or some channel locks.also when u buy something from the scrap yard it will be dirty and may not be anygood.word

The key no longer works and nor will the truck open any other way. No buttons worked before and only the key worked but now the car doesn't accept the key for whatever reason.
