If you're carrying a rifle, it's always wise to carry a side arm for backup. I use to own a .40 cal Glock 23 which is a nice compact conceal weapon, but once I went shooting with a guy who let me shoot his Colt 45 gold cup, after that I was no longer interested in shooting my Glock. At this particular time I don't have a side arm, but I'm gonna be looking into a Colt commander or colt officer, I'm leaning more towards the commander I think. Personally if I were you and you're looking for action, I would take nothing less than a M60, which is a quality full auto weapon you can really go to town with, big enough to do a lot of damage, but not so big that you can't carry it.
