I would rather not pick up and call them at a later time or have them call me back.

It's very rude to do such thing even if you can't stand the person. Rather than avoiding talking to them i'd rather confront them and tell them how i truly feel towards them. When they know how i feel, they'll be better able to respond back in a positive way to me.

I mean what's the point, they'll sometimes know it's not a signal problem anyway and that shows a bad character and in return you'll not be repected for who you are.

My sister calls me on my cell phone and she loves to stay on the line even though she's talking and yelling at her kids the whole time. So, I don't want to hear it, and I just tell her that my battery is going dead and if we get cut off - then I hang up.
It's kinda mean, but then again if you only knew my sister you'd think it was hilarious.

naw i ussually tell someone else to answer it and tell them to make an excuse for me. Like uh nat is not here she's at practice, or naw she's asleep. But sometimes I just say, stop calling me cuz your boring me to death and I hate talkin' on the phone....

just pretend you can't hear them anymore, and say 'damn phone's crapped up again' before hanging up

or just end the call, and when they call back later profusely apologise and say that your phone battery ran out
