A tank shirt is any sleeveless, scoop-necked (front and back) shirt. In athletic wear, a compression garment is snug without being so tight it impairs movement or circulation (think bike shorts). So a compression tank shirt would logically be a tank shirt that's knit and quite snug.

Just a best guess, of course. (For all I know, it could be a long-sleeved button-down meant to be worn in a compression tank!)
