The baby has plenty of cushioning and won't be injured by you sleeping on your stomach.

Don't worry about it. The baby is well protected in there from a lot of things. Pretty soon you will be getting big enough that turning on your stomach will become too uncomfortable, and you will just subconciously avoid it. I'm six months and when I end up on my belly (which lately is rare), I wake immediately. It's a hard habit to break because I am so used to sleeping on my belly, but you'll work your way out of it eventually, and all without harming your baby.

The amniotic sac that the baby is in is what protects the baby. The laying on the stomach is more of a comfortable issue. Eventually, it will get to the point where if you do roll over on your stomach, you will notice it and need to roll over. You might need to get a pregnancy pillow to lay under your stomach while laying on your side to protect the weight of it. It will also help if you try to roll over on your stomach.

The only reason they tell you to sleep on your left side is because the baby gets better blood flow. This is a fairly recent discovery and many healthy babies were born before anyone knew about it. If its still comfortable to lay on your belly then go for it, it won't be comfortable much longer so do it while you can!

Your fine. I did that all the time. Right now baby has plenty of cushion to protect it. There is a little less that twice as much amniotic fluid as there is baby in your tummy right now. She has plenty of room.
As for the future, at some point you will not be able to roll over onto your stomach even if you wanted to. Your tummy will simply be too big. Your body knows what's it's doing, so don't worry.

No, the baby would let you know if you were hurting him/her.
You are so lucky that you can sleep on your stomach pretty soon you won't be able to.

i had the same concern when i started waking up on my back (a no no after 20 weeks)..my dr told me that it is fine to end up on your back or tummy...if it isn't good for you, your body will know and wake you up or return you to a "safe" position.....i wouldn't worry...heck, if you can still sleep on your stomach, you're doing better than most of us :)

Don't worry. I used to wake up on my stomach and freak out too. Just continue going to sleep on your left side, and don't freak out if you awaken on your tummy.

No, it's just recommended that you sleep on your left side. It's not going to harm your baby they have more protection in there than you think they do.
