I know my answer is very long but I want to address each one of your questions individually. First let me say I thought the movie was

My husband has been waiting like 20 yrs & it was more than we could have expected. About the VW Beetle question...Bumblebee was a VW Bug before..the reason he's not now is that VW didn't want to associate their name with "War Toys",same reason Jazz is not a Porsche anymore. VW has repeatedly declined Hasbro rights to the New Beetle design for the Transformers line, since they are "war toys". That extended to the movie as well. The Megatron question...Megatron was also given a less humanoid face to make him more menacing. Megatron's classic alternate mode was a Walther P38 pistol, but Hasbro the owners, and official distributors of the toyline stated that they would not produce a gun of any kind for their characters (it's also illegal to make replica toy guns in several jurisdictions). Also the writers thought it was like "having Darth Vader transform into his own lightsaber and someone else swinging him around," so it was changed to an "interstellar jet." The Soundwave qusetion...The Decepticon Soundwave was originally in the script, but was replaced with Blackout (who had originally been named Vortex, and later Incinerator). He is to appear in the film's sequel. Hope this clears up how you felt that they just took to many liberties with the film. I really think the did an amazing job at bringinh the Transformers to life & can't wait to see the sequel in 2009.

They all take liberties(look at the X-Men movies) that's why Bumblebee's not a VW, besides who wants to see Bumblebee with a built in flower vase (like the current model VW does). Besides, the filmmakers got a sweet deal from GM to use their cars, that's why Ratchet's a Hummer and not a Toyota mini-van, and Bumblebee's a 2009 Camaro prototype(saw the First-Look on HBO). And Yes Soundwave would've been cool. I think what happened here was that they based the movie Transformers on non-G1 based Transformers, G1's the only version of Megatron where he's a Walther P38.

They made changes so the movie could be good. Who would be impressed by a VW bug? Megatron had to be something besides a gun. Him going from giant robot to gun sized was ridiculous. Same for Soundwave. And bare in mind that half the people that will see the movie probably never saw the cartoon.

I think there will be that Transformer that changes itself in to a planet. Also, I hope it will introduce the minicons to the live action movies. There are just a bunch of things that they can introduce. Remember at the end, where Optimus is narrating? He says that he is calling out for anymore remaining autobots, so I think we are going to see like 4 more auto bots and like 5 new Decepticons.

I'll tell you what, you stay home and i'll go see it twice, once for me and once for you. This movie is going to gross way over 400 million. And who cares that they are changing some little things in the movie. Just as long as it is a good film then im ok with it, they got the original voice for prime, so go see it and then come back and tell us what a cool movie it was.

I'm going to see it, but I agree with you that they took a lot of liberties in changing things. I'm just anxious to see how well the special effects turned out.

Besides the weird effects, the transformers movie looks too animated and isn't believeable. What reason is there to see it?

dont bother. there are way more people who like the movie (not me) than those who dont so a boycott wont even put a scratch on the box office.
