Not paying a blind bit of attention to the people, ignoring and insulting Congress, overruling the judiciary and destroying the
legal system.
Isn't it nice to know that the law is no longer equal for everybody!.

Off course this is ( unnecessarily ) inflammatory, It provokes responses.
Any polite civilized question gets a only a few
answers, and most will be about how much they've appreciated your civility.
So let it be inflammatory, Bush commuting Libby's sentence isn't exactly soothing either.
and just for the record I'm not even an American.
But as a European we are immensely influenced by what happens in the most influential and powerful country in the world.
And we are not very reassured by the way the American politicians ( both sides ) have handled their responsibilities and democratic values. We worry, it looks like you're gridlocked.

I know the President has the right to pardon, and has the duty to see to it that the laws are faithfully
executed. But Ford with Nixon, Clinton at the end
of his presidency and now Bush are making a mockery of article 2 of the constitution using their powers in this way.
It may not be in the constitution but I think the
American people would like to see the office of President of the USA faithfully executed.
To favor one person ( controversially ) at the expense of the credibility and governability of the whole country is irresponsible.

So, whats new. Every president has done this. Welcome to reality, and by running to the ballot polls and putting the clintons back in office will not change anything. They're just more smooth at lying. With everything going on in this country and in the world why should we care why they fired a bunch of attorneys anyway. The law was always leaning towards favoring the rich who could afford a good defense. Just ask the duke lacross team how money will save your ****

Your professor must be pretty dumb. The US has never been a democracy. At least I don't ever remember casting my vote for any of the US laws. Did you cast a vote on the Patriot Act? How did you vote on the Iraq military autorization? You probably didn't, because the US is a representative republic, not a democracy. In fact, never in the history of the US have the PEOPLE voted for the president. The president is chosen by the electors of the electoral college. The legislature of each state determines how the electors are selected. I think all states chose their electors based on the votes of the people in that state. The election of senators was not done by the popular vote until the 17th amdenment was ratified in 1913. Before that, the senators were also chosen by state legislatures. Only the house of representatives have been directly elected by the people since the inception of the constitution.

You know, most likely, if there was another attack on the USA, then his popularity would go from 30%-90% in a week flat.

I'm just saying, when things go good, presidents get ALOT of credit. Almost 'too' much credit.

And when things go bad, they get all the blame.

Have you every just stopped and thought once that maybe it's his cabinet that's also ****ing up the system?

Try reading Article two of a document called the United States Constitution.

As a neo-lib you may need to read it a couple of times.

It is hard to profitably add to your analysis. The USA is becoming more of an empire and less than a republic and although this development was already apparent in the last few decades, GWB has accelerated and greatly contributed to this.

I have been around a while and I believe the last 7 presidents have been corrupt. Funny thing is the next one who ever it is will be too!

Just a note how does Ted Kennedy get reelected term after term!

Dusty, you may call yourself an Atheist, but I think that you do have a "religion" and it is politics.
You seem to look there for leadership, righteousness (for lack of a better word---though I'm afraid will offend non-believers) and, yes, salvation, but it is not to be found in government, IMO.
The law always disappoints, and we always fall short of it. And always will.

Bush is easily the most oleaginous, hypocritical, corrupt and morally bankrupt piece of human filth ever to disgrace the Oval Office.

Good question, a star for you.
