maybe freight vessel or fishing vessel?

F/V = Fishing Vessel
S/V = Sailing Vessel
M/V= Motor Vessel
M/S = Motor Ship (Most Frieghters)
R/V = Research Vessel
GTS = Gas Turbine Ship
SS = Steam Ship (pretty much gone)

This is in accordance with international standards and US Naval Practice... I did VID (Visual IDentification) of thousands and thousands of ships as an Aircrewman in the SH-60B Seahawk.
