I always peel it as I eat, so that my fingers never touch the flesh of the banana. Not only do I avoid contaminating the banana with potentially dirty fingers, but I also avoid getting my fingers slippery and messy.

I do not! I just peel it enough to get a couple of bites. Then peel it some more. Continue the process till I am all done. The main reason I do this. Is as you have already stated. My job is extremely dirty. Do not have enough time to clean up before I enjoy my snack. That is before I have to return to work. Only get one ten minute break all day. Do not want to waste it cleaning my hands. Just seems more efficient to me.

Get banana from bunch, bite the skin hard to puncture it.Then insert your index finger into the hole created by the bite and rip the remainder of the skin away and put it on your head. you will now have a naked banana, which will no doubt have some damage to its upper section caused by the initial bite, this area will be slushy and unfit for comsumption. Pull the ruined part off with your hand, and throw it at the nearest person or owl. You now have a perfect banana - with the tapered end, you should start, nibbling gently at first and progressing into a frenzied oral attack on the fruit. their should be no pause or break between nibble and full on assault. When finished you should have 24% of the banana splattered around your chops and at least one noticeable chunk stuck in your left eyebrow. Congratulations. You have succesfully eaten a banana!!

Sorry, I peel the whole thing to eat it, AND I clean my hands before eating........once in a while I'll peel like you do, lol....but not usually. I want to throw the peel away and goooooooooo........

I have similar feelings/thoughts as you do about bananas and peeling them... but as for the actions of others, I say " because they can", simply that.

I'm with you, Sand. I don't like touching it. I peel as I go. But when slicing it into or onto something, you have to touch that last little bit to get it all, yuck!

it's to get all those little stringy things off before eating it. That's hard to do with the peel still on. (Besides, my hands are clean!!!)
