If you move into a place in the middle of the month say the 12th does this make each rent payment due by that date or is it due on the 1st then having a grace period?

It's probably due on the first of each month. Read the lease carefully. it will tell you. Ask the manager if you have doubts.

Unless your rental agreement does not indicates otherwise, rent is on the 12th. Most rentals just do the standard rent due on the first with a 5 day grace period. If you havent moved in yet, you can always call and check or just review your lease.

For most standard rental agreement, the first month is pro-rated and then subsequent month will be due on the 1st day of the month. Normally there is some grace period but not more than 7 days.

It depends on what your lease says - it might be due on the 12th, but they might prorate the first month, then have it due on the first from then on.
