No...July 4th is July 4th.
That would be like moving Christmas away from December 25th....It just won't happen and won't be popular...

You can change Washington's birthday or Lincoln's but I dont think you'll ever get the 4th of July to change to just any day that makes it easier to have a 4 day weekend. Most of the people I know around here are making it a whole week's vacation. Some of it is paid and some of it isnt, but the 4th is on the 4th. If it ever gets changed, I'll be very disappointed.

no. The 4th of July is honored by history. Would you move New Year's Day off 1/1?

NO, there is a reason that we celebrate Independence Day on the 4th of July, try rechecking your history.

It is on a set day. July 4th. If we put it on a set "day of the week" it would no longer be celebrating the anniversary.

I'm sorry I just think it's a bad idea. America celebrates our freedom on the 4th for a reason. That's the day we were set free. If it's a set day, things wouldn't be the same. Sorry.

I can't believe people are taking this seriously. This year kind of sucks because I don't get a long weekend, just one day off. And unlike other people I can't take 2 days off. LOL

I thought that July 4th was a sacred day in American history and should not be tampered with to accommodate the whims of those desiring yet another 3-day weekend

You mean like changing celebration of Lincoln's birthday (Feb. 12) and Washington's birthday (Feb.22) to President's Day and having it on a Monday in February? Sure, why not? We can call it Freedom Day and make it any Monday in July. After all, isn't that what holidays are for? I mean, to give us long weekends?
