We know he can't run for re-election, but will his dismissal of Libby's sentence affect his how he is remembered by historians?

Do you think Republicans running for re-election have distanced themselves from Bush enough that this won't affect their potential voters?

No respect for the rule of law. This is going to haunt the GOP during the election. It just shows how Republicans are criminal enablers with no respect for our legal institutions.

People who claim that this shows the President has no respect for the rule of law when he pardons someone (or commutes their sentence) show how truly ignorant of the law they actually are.

It is the President's prerogative to pardodon someone. It's in the constitution. If you don't like it, take it up with the framers.

It is actually a positive. However, his aggressive support for the "Immigration Reform" bill the public killed last week has done irreparable damage to his legacy.

His presidency was a failure before this, but now he's just cemented his place as one of the Top 5 worst presidents of all time. He is a criminal, surrounded by a group of henchman that do his bidding, break the law without impunity, and destroy people who get in their way. He, and his presidency, are a joke.
I just hope he gets impeached or through divine intervention God punishes him as he so richly deserves.

Their claims to support justice and the truth will evaporate if they support the commuted sentence. If bush feels so sorry for libby he should give him his old job back.

I really don't think it is going to be considered by historians. they have better things to consider, like 9/11, two wars, etc.

He's already in the toilet, so he can't go much lower, so no effect on his legacy.
