11 answers

I, too, live in Vegas. I'm also married to a former chef. :-) When we're not eating at home, we go to The Strip. Our favorite Strip restaurants are Bouchon (by far), Le Cirque, The Burger Bar, N9NE, Alex, SW Steakhouse, and JJ's Steakhouse at The Hard Rock. Off Strip, we go to just about every little Thai restaurant we can find, and we hang out at the Korean BBQ places with other chefs over on Spring Mtn. Paymon's is always fun -- it doesn't matter which one. As a general rule, we avoid corporate chains. The best chefs in the world are coming to Vegas, and setting up on and off The Strip. Unfortunately, there's no agriculture in the area, so everything has to be shipped in. It makes for some not-so-fresh dining experiences if you're not careful. :-( Bouchon is absolutely phenomenal.

my favorite local restaurant is Rosemary's in Summerlin. but I also love Gordon Biersch for fun and good home made food & brew. if i feel like spending some money, I go to Boa's in Caesar's or Guy Savoy. and there's this little sushi place by my house that makes the best sushi in Vegas, called Narita. for the best chinese, Food Express. best Malaysian, Satay in China Town. and best Thai, Lotus of Siam, not too far from the University. oh, and a nice little lounge/restaurant near Summerlin, called Mark's. i know the owner & he has great food and a nice little lounge area if you just want drinks. service in the lounge isn't the best, cause they're usually busy & there's always only one bartendar, but if you're not in a hurry, it's cozy.

KAHUNAVILLE- Treasure Island. If you are into Hawaiian/Island food and a lively type of atmosphere, this restaurant is a good place to go. They have an interactive bar towards the front of the restaurant (bartendars twirling bottles, shot taking contests, dancing on the bar, etc.) and inside is the actual dining area. Its a casual island/tropical type of environment, GREAT FOOD!

I know what one I didn't like... the Spice Market Buffet in Planet Hollywood.
Food was average, at best, but the price wasn't. $25 per person.

My favorite is Emeril's New Orleans Fish House @ MGM Grand. It's the one place we always go for a fancy dinner. All the cheap food is good, too, though! :)
