I was eating some m&m's and one of the candy shells cracked off, got caught between my two front teeth, and cut my tongue really bad.

Is that your first time!!! I heard the guy before you tried it because it cut both of his tongues. He didn't get anything yet from that. Still pending. It has been about 100 years now since then. I think you have to wait for your turn suing. Might be million people before you by now. Good luck.

How much should you sue for?

How about nothing.

You'll look like a money-grubbing idiot and your case will be thrown out of court. You will pay the court costs. You cannot afford a lawyer who can beat the M&M/Mars corporate lawyers in court.

The only way you COULD win is if you could prove that M&Ms present a constant danger. That they are inherently unsafe as they are sold in the store.

Take the McDonalds coffee lawsuit. Everyone has heard of this case, but most folks don't know all the facts.

August 1994. A woman spilled coffee in her lap and sued McDonalds over it. She won, and was awarded nearly $500,000.

The problem was not that the coffee was hot. You expect coffee to be hot. Its freakin' coffee!

You do expect coffee to be hot. You do not expect coffee to be SCALDING, which is how McDonalds serves their coffee (around 185 degrees). Severe burns occur very quickly with liquids in the 180-190 degree range. There was an inherent danger from the coffee. It could have severly injured anyone it was spilled on.

What does this have to do with your M&Ms? Well, could you reproduce the injury? Can you show that anyone could cut themself on a candy shell? No. You can't.

Now pass me the M&Ms. You're not going to finish them, right?

sounds like one of the risks you take when eating m&m's! Your tongue will heal......if you are going to sue, I would sue for a big bag of peanut m&m's!!! But you lawyer fees will be outrageous so maybe just cut your losses and stay away from m&m's ?

I'm taking this matter as a joke, cuz trying to sue for this matter will not only be a waste of your time, but a waste of your money as well. I would just void the M&Ms in all.

The shell is NOT big enough to cut your tongue 'really bad'. If you can still talk, you have NO damages.
