If your boyfriend is going to live with you, you must add him to your section 8. If he lives with you and you do not have him included in your household, you could lose your voucher.

You pay 30% of your household's total gross income as rent when you are on section 8. So if your boyfriend makes 1200.00 a month, your portion of the rent would be $400.00.

I would guess if you live together, you must add him and his income to your application. Depending on how much he makes, you will likely get less assistance from the state. Basically, you will probably have to pay a higher percentage of your rent, but you still may qualify for some assistance. I would be willing to bet that there are legal consequences for not adding him when he does live there.

It is really hard to know how much assistance you will receive as there are a number of different factors involved. Some of these may include: location, amount your boyfriend makes, how many children you have, amount you receive in other benefits, etc.

I think that they charge by the household income, so they would go by your boyfriend's income to decide your rent. It's considered fraud if you have people living with you without being on the lease. But, in Clearwater, Florida, everyone's buddys with the office people so they get away with it.
