In some cases I would say a sense of righteousness, in others a sense of oppression, and hopelessness.

It is not motivation but rather Idealism. To motivate yourself to do something you know is wrong requires a reward to ones self.Example- One knows it's wrong to rob a bank but one wants lots of money for ones self without having to work for it. Example 2- One knows it's wrong to kill another for food and water but does so anyway to survive.Example 3-One knows it's wrong to lie but wants to have sex with a stranger which motivates them to approach the stranger at the bar and chat themselves up as an honorable and trusting sort.
These are just a few examples of motivation that one might use to themselves when unskilled, uneducated, starving, horny, etc.
When it comes to Idealism you need not motivation.Instead you do so without question based on your strong and influenced belief system. The christian terrorists who bomb abortion clinics and verbally assault pregnant women out front of the clinics are not motivated by god nor a reward but strongly believe that what they're doing is actually morally justified based on their supressed and closed off lifestyle. They are closed off in thier communities as well as the outside world and are manipulated at a young age to think only a certain way without question.Killing is not a christian act yet these poor souls don't,won't, and can't know any better.
Unlike the christian terrorists in the forementioned, terrorist such as the fundimentalist that the media calls suicide bombers, which in fact should be just called "murderers", need some motivation because even though they were corrupted at an early age and don't like to question there faith the madmen behind this corruption know very well that it takes alot of reward to get someone else to do your dirty work especially when it means losing their life in the proccess. So these corrupt individuals who butcher the original teachings of the adopted faith add things like "you will be martered" or that you will be allowed to rape as many virgins in heaven as you so desire. What better way to get a bunch of crazy's to stop thinking with the head that counts.
Terrorists need no motivation. They just need someone else to corrupt and pervert their mind and control their lives in the name of a corrupted ideal usually created by the insane and/or essentric.
And the media should stop refering these terrorist as suicide bombers when they are just fanaticle murderers. They plan at the begining to kill people and the intent is to kill people and their point is to kill people. They are told they will be living in heaven and rewarded hansomely by the madmen who sent them. So in their mind they are not committing suicide but being reborn to a better plain of exhistance.
Now if they really wanted the world to see how oppressed they are then they should do so by just killing themselves and not innocent people. It worked for the budist munks in Vietnam. These so called terrorist are nothing more than homocidal maniacs who's minds have been raped by the insane.

I think you have to be a "true believer". When you are in this state of mind nothing distracts from what you view as your mission and calling. Remember the Kamikazes? Same mindset and speed helped them. Plus they just don't want us there.

For those who truly believe in what they are doing...having "no hope" drummed into your head...day after day...relentlessly by people you trust, i.e., your religious leaders and as a child, your teachers.

For the rest, it is people who are PAID by their string pullers, i.e., governments and organizations that have a vested interest in destabilizing other governments.

Maybe it's because a bunch of imperialist swine came into their country and started blowing things to hell and killing all their friends and family.
