Good enough to win Comeback of the Year, because if Chad Pennington can win it with 2 arm surgeries I think he can do it too

Oh no!!!! Another question to pull all the Rex Grossman haters out of the woodwork. Lets put it this way....if we had run the ball in the SB like we SHOULD have and didnt have an offensive coordinator who decided put the ball in Rex's hands almost 80% of the game, we would have won the damn game! Why, on gods green earth, did we stop feeding Thomas Jones the ball? Why did they all of a sudden decide "Hey since Cedric got hurt, lets not run the ball anymore!" It made NO sense at all! I dont blame Rex for that game!! Yeah he threw costly picks but he shouldnt have been in that situation in the first place....PERIOD!!! Rex will be better! If you wanna see how a QB is his first FULL season starting, go to NFL.com and look up this QB named uhhh....Marc Bulger!! He threw 22 TDs and 22INTs his first full year starting and that was WITH probably one of the best sets of offensive weapons in the NFL back then!!

Uh-oh.....I can feel it now...another "Rex Grossman sucks" poster in 5....4......3......2.......!

......and as for Dustin B....yeah ok....we are blind. We were blind all the way to Miami....what happened with you all? IF Rex ends up being horrible next year, FINE, I will come back to answers and admit it....NO PROBLEM. But if he DOES end up being better, I know I wont see Dustin OR any other poster on here back here saying you were wrong!!

Based on last year's performance, its not sure whether he can be considered "good" for a couple of reasons:

1. Consistency: Yes he had a great first month, throwing all the TD's and big plays etc.. A lot of those came when they were ahead of the other team; expecting the Bears to grind out the clock and working with a short field so often. Then as the season wore on, teams had more film on him, the defense wasnt as dominant etc.. he played HORRIBLY, forcing it too much and not making the right throws. Now that Thomas Jones is gone, Cedric Benson is unproven, and the defense appears to lose 3 of its best playmakers in Tank Johnson Aduelye Ogunleye and Lance Briggs, Grossman really needs to mature and step up his game because a lot more is going to be placed on his shoulders this year with the running game in question and the defense looking like its on the downslide now.

Health: For once in a blue moon Grossman wasn't injured the entire season last season. He really needs to keep his health up and try to avoid injuires as best as he can, knowing when to slide, throw it away etc.. small things just so he can survive the season.

In a nutshell, this is grossman's "defining" season; meaning he either produces this year or he's out of Chicago. He doesn't have the greatest talent around him like he did last year, and they have a tougher schedule. Let's see if he can carry this team when the going gets tough, and evaluate him during those times. The people who say he didn't play to his full potential last year, well lets see if he stays healthy, and see how he does this year. Time to put up or shut Rex Grossman

I think Grossman can have a very good upcoming season. He obviously has the talent to be very good and he finally has a full NFL season under his belt. It will all come down to his confidence. Nobody takes him seriously and think the Bears win because of their defense instead of Rex Grossman's play. Throw in the fact that one of his own players stated he wants the Bears to trade for Donovan McNabb can mess with the guys credibility.

I will say he overcomes this and puts up some good numbers.

Everyone is quick to criticize Rex, but let's remember.. It was his first season being first string. He has to gain that confidence behind the ball. Yes, he still needs work. But I think he did a dam good job being thrown into it and only managing to lose four games.

Lovie was trying to take a chance on him. No matter what anyone says, I don't think our season would have been that much different if Griese were playing. We'll see how preseason goes, so the rest of you peyton loving Bears hating ppl can eat your words.

What's that sound **looks around** SsssssSuper Bowl Shuffle

No. Rex Grossman is more of an on and off guy. Like last year he was good in only half his games. The bears defense got them to the super bowl. Not him. He was the reason that they lost in the super bowl.

In my opinion, I too believe that Rex could be great. You know, he reminds me of an early Brett Farve. Inconsistent at first, but could go down as one a great. This offseason with Chicago's new QB coordinator, Pep, Rex has come great lengths holding on to the ball and stepping up in the pocket. Heck, we've already seen Rex throw beautiful deap balls that make your jaw drop. I think this year will be his season.

Grossman will be better this season due to the Bears changing their gameplan to Shotgun. Rex is short for a QB so now he can see over his own line.

u know..i was a pretty big rex supporter through all the crap this last season...but when the ball went through his hands in the superbowl...i swear i heard a toilet flush in the back ground...that was it, game over.

the superbowl defeat was huge, especially the way it happened, we looked pitful out there. indy was smart enough to change their entire gameplan for the big game, and the bears couldnt stop a short pass or block a run (from a rookie, mind you)...

anyways, as a bears fan, i have to keep my head up and wait till next season to start defending my team again...but i tell you what, this year, i will not have any more patience with rex...if he goes back to his old ways, i wont get my hopes up...cant be that lucky two years in a row!

It's not about Peyton loving. It's about Rex constantly just throwing it deep. The NFL is all about recent production. Yes Bulger was bad in his first year. That doesn't mean Rex is going to get better.

I just don't understand how Bears fans can defend him. He was far below good last year. Your starting quarterback didn't play his best on New Years Eve because it was New Years Eve. So you have a quarterback with poor judgment on and off the field. Don't deny it.

There are 2 types of fans. The blind ones (Grossman defenders), and the realists (I know the Jags need a quarterback.. and safetys.. and help at corner...)

No, i dont think Rex will ever have what it takes to be a very good QB, he has some good games and then he has some awful games, i think he should be a backup but we both know that the bears will never get a starting caliber QB to replace him.
