I am located in the Memphis, TN market where Comcast has recently took over operations from Time Warner Cable. Before Comcast arrived Time Warner customers used to pay 44.95 for high-speed cable internet. Now as of July 1, 2007, they are increasing the price to 49.95, and in January the price will become a whopping $52.95. This is an outrage and in Septemeber I am going to get DSL. Now "MA BELL" will get my money. I will continue to keep my DirecTV service even though I dislike News Corp. support of all things evil.

Also please look at this from a relative veiwpoint, the rates rates in your city may already be higher, but Memphis, TN has a lower cost-of-living than many parts of the country.

That is what having a monopoly entitles them to do.

They were in our town and were outrageous in terms of monthly rates and fees for changes in service. Then when a new cable company started to build out around here all of a sudden they got a much better attitude and much better prices because they had to compete for customers.

We had the benefit of going from one provider to two. You are seeing the downside of having fewer porviders.

They are a cable and internet provider. They are supposed to screw people. It's what they do.
