while playing a guitar do you put your figures in the space in the middle of the fret buttons?

while playing a guitar do you put your fingures in the space in the middle of the frett buttons. when i do i get a buzzing noise.

Yes, u do put ur fingers in the spaces, but if it is buzzing try moving ur fingers to just behind the fret. This should solve the problem but if a particular string is buzzing,slide ur finger up to the next fret. .if it stops the buzzing, the fret is to high. (this is not very likely, but is possible).
