I mean up to 1980 when Ronald Reagan was sworn into office, "Little Mussolini" was on the demo ticket & flirting with the independent boys! Ronald Reagan winning the presidency seemed to move ole Rudy into the republican camp, tho I'm sure that was not to further his agenda with the winning team, could it!? Rudy seems to have packed along the demo agenda tho in his "move". Does the repubie party even have a platform for candidates/representatives to adhere too? I mean if Ted Kennedy wanted to run on the repub ticket what would stop him from doing so, Gingrich, McCain? I doubt it! Seems like THE "good ole boys" club is loaded with "magicians" that just morph back & forth between two different titles! Dumping the politicians(magicians!) that infest THE republocratic party was like taking a breath of fresh air for me! Does anyone else see a morphy/slippery obscurity between the candidates of this "supposed" two party entity???

This would all be so easy to overlook if just two things would happen in politics:

1. The republicans would do what they promise that they would do in order to get elected.

2. The Democrats wouldn't do anything they promised to do in order to get elected.

This is symptomatic of a two party system. You will get extremes to begin with and eventually over time - you will work toward the middle of the road - those that get there first can flip-flop all they want because they appeal to people on both sides of the isle

The whole goal of course is to gain power - its all about the power....power corrupts and absolutle power corrupts absolutely....this has been seen all over the world - why not here as well

The geratest Lockean experiment has proven to be a failure since the people of this country refuse to hold their representative government responsible for what it does.

The press doesnt ell the whole truth because they are censored - even though they are not suposed to be. The people dont watch the government because they are taought to trust their overnment in the public re-education camps they call schools.

With nothing being properly reported and noone with a proper education, is it any wonder that morphing has happened over time....its no surprise to me...it shoudlnt be for any one else

Once people actually learn to think on their own they will be smart enough to question what i sgoing on - till then - they wll continue to be led by the nose while other people mak edecisions for them - thats what slavery is all about isnt it?

I take issue with your premise "The Republican Party is so conservative". Back in the 1970's, the Republicans used to chide the Democratic Party as "Tax, tax, spend, spend". So tell me, what is so different from that charge as the Republican record, starting with Reagan, of "Borrow, borrow, spend, spend"? Since the Great Communicator got into office the National Debt has soared from $1 trillion to $6 trillion (at least). If that is Conservatism than I am a Super Conservative because I am against all that National Debt. Whatever became of Fiscal Conservatism?

Number one...people are allowed to change their minds, behaviors and convictions. Thank God or I would still be a liberal.
Number two...I believe Mayor Bloomburg has changed his party. Although a lifelong Democrat, he ran on the Republican ballot and was elected mayor in 2001, and was reelected to a second term in 2005.
Party jumping happens in all parties. It is up to the VOTER to do the homework on the candidates to see where they truly stand.

Not sure about that one! What is really amazing is the fact that the chimp commuted Libbey's 2 1/2 year prison term - he won't spend a night in jail. We would be in jail til the cows came home if we did what Libby did!

As long as you continue to live in the fantasy that political parties exist to get the best statesmen who have the best interests of the country elected, you will continue to be puzzled by their behavior.

Only one thing counts - What will get me elected(re-elected)? All activity, both before and after election, is geared to this one goal and determines all political action. Anything else that gets done is purely incidental and accidental.

Good point.. Condi was once a Democrat too.

I look to see Colin Powell emerging as a solid Democrat, just a hunch.
