If the stars from all the faraway galaxies have feelings, they may feel insignificant and small of how big "our" universe is.
Everything comes and go. The pets you raised, your parents, your car, your life, and even the galaxies you wonder about will come and go. If you believe that you will go somewhere after you die, then life is a temporary stay and a test to determine which path we will go when our souls leave our body. If you do not believe that there is life after death, then everything we live for has no real meaning to it for everything that comes will go.

It would be cocky and egotistical of us to just assume that in this endless universe we are the smartest things around, simply because we haven't seen any proof yet. i'm not some x-files geek and i don't believe in UFOs, but in a universe so big our simple minds can't even completely comprehend it, it is quite smug of anyone to assume we share the universe with no one but ourselves. i have submerged myself into different theories and there two i find most interesting. one theory is that intelligent life hasn't bothered trying to find more intelligent life outside their planet. while we spend millions upon millions on our space programs all this money and effort could be spent down here on earth, helping poor and hungry. it's possible a more advanced race than us decided to give up this space hunt and concentrate on what matters, health and happiness. an ever more wild theory is one based (loosely) off the string theory and the parallel universe theories. it is thought that an infinite chain of plains of reality exist constantly overlapping one another, all made of a different matter that exist eternally all around one another without actually effecting each other in the slightest way. for more info read up on quantum mechanics, its allot to handle but it's a blast.

There is this theory that human thinking alters the timeline. For example, let's use the big bang. Some say that until we "discovered" or thought up the Big Bang, it hadn't occured, but when our minds created it, the timeline of the universe was somehow altered so that the Big Bang had occured. I'm not really sure I believe this, but it's a cool way of thinking of things.
So, the possiblities can't be there until we are willing to explore them.

Sure! It's a pity that many spend their lives gazing at their navels. Because many buy into territorial beliefs dictated by a church or a government, it never occurs to most people that all of life is connected in an unknown, and so far unknowable, whole.

I think the wondering part its its all we have! i agree our universe is soo big!... that we cannot even compare to any trip we can possibly take.. he..he.. I do believe that life could be possible on some distant planet. The chances are so astronomical that on one planet out there they might even speak English with a southern accent! "bye, you-all....you-all come back...you hear?".

Beyond our *galaxy*? Try beyond our galaxy cluster :-) There are billions of galaxies out there, each containing billions of stars. Even if the chances of a star having a planet, and that planet being capable of supporting life, are a trillion to one, there must be life out there, and some of it intelligent life. One of Saturn's (?) moons is believed to support life, but on a cellular level.

If you mean "more out there" as in life forms, sure. I believe that it is very possible, even though we have no contact with whoever or whatever those life forms might be.
If you mean "more out there" as in a deity... no, at least not in the traditional Western view (i.e. anthropomorphism).
As far as that is concerned the only thing I can say is BRAHMAN.

Thinking about how large the universe is is one way to feel small. The two are interconnected.

I agree there has to be more to life than this! If we can put men on the moon how do we know that other "people" havent been here or are here!
Who knows, one day we may find the answer!
