All autoparts stores will take the battery from you for recycling. I know Autozone in California will take it from you at no charge.

Dear Battery-
Any good ditch will do the job! :)
Just kidding!
Most of the auto parts stores have a recycling program. Your local refuse company may also have such a program. Best bet is to call them and have a chat.
I know that our dealership has a core fee attached to the batteries that we sell, basically its an additional $25.00 that we charge, to ensure that you bring us your old battery. You get the $25.00 back when you bring us your old battery. Its just a way to ensure these things are NOT being dumped in the ditch that I mentioned earlier.
I hope that helps you out.

You can take it to most auto repair shops or stores that sell new batteries. A recycler will take that old battery, pull out the lead and plastic and use it to make new batteries. Once the acid is neutralized, it can be re-used, too.

Just take it to your nearest battery dealer. They usually take them and reuse some of the parts like the plastic case if it's not too bad. I work at Napa Auto Parts and our Interstate Battery truck takes them for us at no charge.

I have places where I live that will buy them for like a dollar or more lol. Maybe you can find a scrap yard that deals stuff like aluminium and ask them. Or you can take it to an auto parts store.

Most autopart stores will accept used batteries. If they're not open, then just put it at their front door and they'l know what to do w/it when they open up.
