I have a P4P800 motherboared with a intel p4 2.8ghz cpu I want to upgrade to a 3.2 ghz cpu that has a 1mb cache. I need to know if that will work with my motherboard.

I forgot to mention that I am wondering about the cache size being 1MB.for the new 3.2 mhz cpu will that 1 MB cach e work on this motherboared?

If it is the P4 3.2E (socket 478) it will work. It has Hyperthreading capability and it is HOT (103 watts TDP). Your old processor is only a 63 watter. Many users just turn off HT to reduce heat. You could also opt for the P4 3.4C (L2=512Kb). It is only an 89 watter.
