My spouse-to-be and I are from different states. We are both consenting, old enough, etc. He is a NY resident and I'm a SC resident. We apply for the marriage license together, right? If we were to get married in NY, as long as we both had birth certificates and ID, wouldn't all we would have to do be to appear in front of a clerk of court and sign everything/pay a fee?

What all is involved in our case? How do we get married?!

Each state has different laws, but for the most part, if one of you is a citizen of the state, the other one can marry in that state with a valid ID. So , it should be as simple as going to the clerk and getting the license with the fee.
