Your question is somewhat ambiguous. So here is a relatively generic answer but I believe it can help you and maybe some others looking for tips:

Scetch details of your main characters - looks, mannerisms, background, etc. Write the details down - or even draw them if you are a visual person.

Then take your main character or characters and imagine them in some odd/out of the ordinary (out of your current work's context) places or scenarios – anything goes! Write down ideas on what would have to happen to your type of character or how they would react to the scenario you placed them in.

This may seem futile, but it will help you flesh out your characters further and give you insight into what you may want to happen to this type of character in a potential story. You may even come up with multiple story lines and can see if one of them just seems to be the best or easiest to continue

Strong well-crafted main characters can inspire readers to love your story as well as drive you to write a great story for these imagined beings to be in! :-)

This should get you going. Then you may want to write an outline of you story (a kind of synopsis), including the ending. I have heard that John Irving writes his endings first, down to the last line, and works backwards. The idea of the outline is to give you goals as you proceed. Writing the ending first may give you the "spark" you seek - and also give you something to strive for.

All of your ideas sound like a good thriller. Add suspense to a story about aliens. Are the aliens stalking a human? Are they after something that the humans possess?

Ghost stories are really versatile. You can make them sad or scary. Or both. Maybe the ghost is trying to make friends with a human. Maybe the ghost is trying to possess the human so they can live again.

Maybe for demons, you should write about someone who can see them and what happens to people who can see them. Anything goes.

Just let your mind open up a little and you'll be amazed at the ideas you can find. Good luck, I hope I helped you!

To be original, why not try a combination. Like an alien ghost or an alien psycho. Or take a genre and turn it on it's head - a vegetarian werewolf? An obsessive-compulsive vampire? Something that hasn't been done a million times before. Good luck!

I like to write short scary stories. They are bloody, LOL! But they do have a solid plot and some intelligence, I hope your's too. Aliens, if you want that, then make sure you have some parts that don't involve the aliens and make a big plot score. Ghost are good too, make sure you do it just right, when i write about ghosts its funny. Demons, wow, i don't write about this but if you want to, scare the heck out of people. Psychos, i sometimes do this but make sure you got a plot going that is not insane too. Other, well this is the topic I like, scary things trying to kill you, feels like my favorite scary movies(Final Destination, People under the stairs).

I personally like to read Vampire and Werewolve novels. Some of my favorites are Charleine Harris(The Sookie Stackhouse books) and the Anita Blake books. I like books about ghosts but really prefer stories about real places that are supposed to be haunted. But since you are the writer I would suggest what ever you think you know the most about and can use that information to spark the imagination of your readers.
