On May 9th Bush signed into law an order that gives him 100% control in the event of "anything he declares an emergency".
Why isn't Congress fighting him on this one?

Why would they? They haven't stood up to him on anything else so far.

Can you provide a link? I am not familiar with this law, and find it hard to believe congress would pass it.
Edit==
Okay, I was confused. This is just the COOP plan. Look, I can't get too riled up, as this is basically the same plan that has existed for 50 years. Short of a nuclear attack the provisions would be unlikely to take effect, and even then they are not indefinate.

Uhh if it was May 9th of this year, wasn't your congress in control? I mean wasn't the commucrat congress who made all those promises to make all those changes in control? If it was May 9, 2007, they were the ones who passed the bill for Bush to sign.

They're afraid of having to come up with answers to hypothetical emergency situations themselves.
I think emergencies should be left to the trained professionals of whatever the emergency entails.

I know you had to take American History to graduate from high school, did you sleep through it? The President has ALWAYS had emergency powers. This was news.... 250 years ago.

Because all Congress thinks of is how to get re-elected in the next election. They are all a bunch of blood-sucking creeps.

Bush can only sign laws that Congress sends him, so they are in agreement.
Are you sure it wasn't an executive order?

Let's say during a heated discussion someone tells you they are going to shave your dogs tail . . . you call the police. The police come and tell you they can't do anything until the crime is committed. Besides, the Democrats will most likely get the Presidency so why would they denounce anything that ultimately will benefit them?

You're probably over-simplifying the emergency order, but in any case, they are standard for every President. Congress has no power to fight him on it.

There is precedent for this order. Lincoln did the same thing in the Civil War.

Because Democrats in Congress know that Bush is a Great President.
Democrats just "put on a show" to impress their ignorant and gullible Democrat Voters.
Hey, it works. The Democrats now control Congress, eh????
