How does Tylenol Codeine help with me getting better?

I have a virus right now.
But I don't understand how codeine is making me better.

I actually don't feel like I'm getting any better either.

All you can dois rest and ride out the illness from the virus, the Tylenol w/ codeine is to help you get rest and relieve only your symptoms. Get lots of rest, take naps and stay hydrated.. feel better soon!!

Tylenol and Codeine together or separate will not cure a virus. Nothing will. It has to work itself out. The Tylenol and codeine are pain relievers and can make the symptoms like aches and pains lessen. The codeine can cause constipation.

Thats a pain killer... it helps take the edge of discomfort... it wouldn't help you with a virus... there aren't very many medications out there that help with virus... they can't be killed with antibiotics so it's possible your doc just wanted to make you comfortable while you fight it off... it sort of depends on what you have.... if you aren't feeling better after about a week go back to the doc or call his office and ask for the nurse. Codeine is for pain relief and is useful in controlling coughing. If you have neither, you can stop taking it and just take the Tylenol.

the codeine is for pain. the acetaminophen (tylenol) is for pain and fever reduction.

you can't make a virus get better.. it has to run its course

so the medication is just to try to make your symptoms less noticeable while you heal

tylenol with codiene, does absolutely nothing about the virus. But it does lower fever and help with pain. Be sure to drink lots of water, or it could cause constipation.
