in light of current terrorist situation and everyones views on how to deal with them, how many of you would be prepared to actively campaign for the death sentence to be reintroduced in britain and just how far would you go to do it? should we campaign against the government or do we just roll over and accept that we always be victims and not fighters? if you dont agree with the death sentence then what do we do with them ( not what you would like to do!)

ok so they want to die anyway, but after all terrorists attempts the public want revenge for loved ones lost etc, is the revenge of locking them up and paying for their food, health and shelter acceptable!

i honestly think that people cannot give a fair or honest answer to this until they are in a situation that their lives are affected by terrorism, if they were injured or family member were injured or killed. peoples opinions change instantly when they are personally affected. i dont want to keep the sickos, i think we have already paid high enough price for them, i do believe that britain should permanently shut the door to immigrants and the like, we are bringing it on ourselves now!

Has it ever occurred to you that the people you criticise for rolling over or for always being victims might be fighting just as hard as you are but in a different way? There's more than one way to skin a cat as they say!
I don't believe the death penalty would be a deterrent as these people are fanatics and are already prepared to die for what they believe in.
For those caught before they could fulfil their mission, a very public extradition might work as they would be seen as failures. For those successful in their mission, still extradite them but with no show. You could also tatoo all terrorists caught and found guilty so that wherever they go in the world, they would be recognised and dealt with accordingly. This could also work for those born in Britain.

Your quote - "do we just roll over and accept that we always be victims and not fighters?"
So the UK are always victims, don't make me laugh!
So by killing someone (maybe wrongly) makes us fighters?
I would not be prepared to actively campaign for the death sentence to be reintroduced. Today, with all the DNA testing and forensic science, the system still makes errors. The death sentence can't just be bought in for terrorists.
In my opinion, the law does need to get tougher, jail them for life and mean life, with no luxuries.

the death sentence can never be re-introduced in Britain for two very good reasons.
the police and the security services. look how many miscarriages of justice there have been lately. we are not even sure of the Lockerby bomber now.
once you have hanged someone its fairly difficult to reverse the process.
whats the point of threatening a suicide bomber with death? mind you ,why do they always plead not guilty.
the answer? no idea. but i am getting sick of people coming to this country , partaking of all the advantages of living in a civilised nation , then throwing it all back in our faces. funny how there is no mass Exodus to the great Muslim country's they so admire and aspire to.

Death penalty would not make martyers of the terrorist, and death penalty is not the answer. making them suffer in prison for the rest of their lives is something that they are more worthy of...........
We all have different views though dont we? after seeing the news yesterday i thought the man who raped and killed his 2 year old neice deserved the death penalty.......

I am not in favour of the death penalty.
If they were found guilty in a fair and impartial trial only, I would say 10 to 20 years at least, but they should be treated as political prisoners.
We need to do something about the root cause of this - our dependence on oil and our unobjective support of Israel.

Executing these fanatics just makes Martyrs of them.
Humiliation is a much better punshiment. Like that ranting hate preacher who was deported to the Lebanon, left the UK screaming about how he hated us and would never return, but a few weeks later was begging the UK for us to take him back once the bombs were falling round his ears! Very funny!

I agree with the death penalty (public hanging) for any terrorists (it is such a cowardly act), surely this is treason (I thought we still had the death penalty for treason?)

as much as i would love to see the death penalty brought back for terrorists i have to agree with what has been already said that they would see it as martyrdom and it would be just what they want. Instead they and their families should be evicted from our country together with any other extremists i would like to see tougher laws made to keep them out of this country altogether
