In a written statement issued hours after that ruling, Bush called 30-month term “excessive.” But he also rejected calls for a pardon for Libby, and said the onetime adviser will still have to pay a $250,000 fine and remain on probation for two years.

“The consequences of his felony conviction on his former life as a lawyer, public servant, and private citizen will be long-lasting,” Bush said. But he said Libby was given “a harsh sentence based in part on allegations never presented to the jury.”

Does Bush not have the balls to pardon Libby? Is he once again trying to show that he and his cronies are above the law?

He will pardon Libby (my prediction), he is just waiting till the last second to do it (I was wrong). It will stoke the fires of Democratic charges of "Bush Administration Misdeeds", the Repubs didn't want to do it, even though they knew it would be done. You can now be sure that every Dem will jump on the Bash Bush Bandwagon, and a few Repubs might condemn him also.

Commuting the sentence is the same as a pardon and bush would have to break his own government's rules to pardon libby because he has not shown remorse or admitted his guilt.

Of course there was a crime committed, libby was convicted repeatedly for lying under oath, which is a felony. If someone commits murder to cover up a burglary, but the person was never convicted of burglary, should we just let the murderer go?

Silly Republicans.

Bush is lame
I voted 4 this bum
they said they couldn't give details about the WMD's at the UN because it would give up Agents
But that Is what They Did Scooter is a trader and should be treated as one .
Bush has just undermind the security of this Nation
We should all be outraged
Yes we all thought he would pardon Libby
but this just proves he has no morals
Clinton pardon his Buddies but none weakened this Country.
Bush should be held accountable for his actions.
And didn't Bush say the person that did this would be punished

Libby does not have to serve time in prison, he must still pay $250,000.00 (I'm sure this will come out of the Halliburton kickback fund), and he still has a criminal record, so he's just another republican felon (Sorry for the redundancy). Libby will be the poster child for the '08 election!

It was to be expected, the bush admin has shown time and time again, that they have no respect for law or congress, which shows they also have no respect for the people who elected them.

It was to be expected. Of course Bush would do this.
Not that I agree, I find it ridiculous myself, but we all knew this was coming. It is just typical Bush nonsense.

it is exactly what should have happened seeing how there was no crime committed. it was just a liberal fishing expedition that netted what it could, which was nothing. the real criminals are living on a ranch somewhere in the midwest like rock stars. they are the liars and criminals. it boggles the mind how this entire mess got started anyhow.

I'm happy he did it. Why didn't they ever file charges against the real person who outed Valerie plame? Perhaps because that person was a Clinton appointee holdover?
