A dear, deceased friend of mine used to surprise our younger coworkers by saying that she wore white gloves to her first job interview because that was expected. That would've been about 38 years ago. Times have changed a lot. I've had applicants show up in tshirts!

Yes but I ditched the hat as soon as possible... I think it's time to bring back the gloves, though. The only problem is I can't find them anywhere [except gardening gloves, and that's not exactly what I had in mind].

We lived on the outskirts of a big city. When I went for my first job my Aunt told me I had to wear a hat and gloves to the interview. When I got to my destination I noticed that no one else had them so I quickly stuffed them in my bag. I guess I was a couple of years behind the times but I still got the job. It paid all of $25.00 per week. Big money!!!!
