I'm just a few years younger than you and I like oldies. It's probably because that's what's out now; they're not surrounded by oldies music because as you said that kind of music is never on the radio anymore. However where I live I found an oldies station that does play some 60's music.

Dude, i thought the same thing! I'm 16 and I love Oldies! I think Rap is the dumbest genre ever. I listen to all the big hits back then. The only modern day music I listen to is Rock and Techno. But that's cool that you like Oldies.

That was always my problem too. When I was 17 and everyone else was into grunge bands, I was groovin' to Doo Wop Sunday Night on my local oldies station. Needless to say, I looked like a bit of an oddball as a result. I think that your love of oldies shows what eclectic taste in music you have. My CD collection spans like 6 decades and I am very proud of it, since most of my friends have CD collections that only go back as far as maybe the 80s or so. I would be very interested in talking music with you if you want a nostalgia buddy. My e-mail address is the same as my screen name, just add yahoo.com to it!!

other people do!

my hubby is a sound engineer (meaning he does the sound for concerts) and because of this i've been exposed to every type of music you can imagine, and i love most types of music, as does he...

now, i don't just like randomly go buy cd collections of 50's and 60's music. but if its on, i enjoy it.

rap.. eh.. i like some rap.. but i'm with you on the hip hop and r & b stuff. i prefer old school rap. the rap nowadays is all just starting to sound the same.

oh... by the way... i'm 21 and hubby's 28.. so we're right about the same age as you

You can't control other people's tastes. Many of them haven't been exposed to the oldies or haven't considered the ways of life that made the music great back then. Accept your friends and just enjoy the music. Every once and while you'll come accross an oldies-lover your age.

Ha ha ha same thing here....I am the only 20 year old person who loves oldies, all kinds. But that's maybe because I grew up listening to them from my parents generation to my brothers.

I was born in the 50's and grew up in the bay area in California. I still listen to Janis Joplin and Jefferson Airplane. Being a Black hippie at that time wasn't cool, but I didn't care!!! I just liked what I heard. So don't let it bother you that no one else gets it, just keep on keeping on!!
