I have a PC running WIndows Media Center (connected to wireless router / broadband cable connection) and a laptop running windows xp pro connected wirelessly to the wireless router. What are the detailed steps to enable file sharing through my connections, so I can drag and drop, etc? I cant seem to figure this out.

Both machines have to be set to the same Workgroup name.
Both machines must have file and printer sharing enabled.
Once that is done they will be able to communicate.

The easiest way is to run the Network Setup Wizard and set the workgroup name etc.

Be sure to set your firewalls to allow the local network to function.

Use the network setup wizard to put both machines in the same workgroup. Then right click any folder or printer you wish to make available for and set it shared. Check that your firewall allows file and printer sharing.

least complicated way is in simple terms to apply a thumb rigidity. YDrag & drop your records (no longer courses) you could export your favorites, etc. or you ought to use the MS report and Settings circulate wizard. there is likewise third party utility - like Aloha Bob which will circulate settings and a few courses. in case you will choose a prompt router linked on your laptop, you could consistently create a house community and in simple terms drag the records on your laptop. Then there is often the pass-over cable (a particular sort of USB, i think) yet i might try the different issues first.
