My Galant is making a loud screeching sound upon start-up and when the acceleration is stepped on. Sometimes it also does this when the A/C is turned on. It started in Dec. when it was very cold out and has progressively gotten worse to the point it lasts for the whole drive. It is not as bad when the car is stopped or being put in park. What could it be? How much will it cost to fix? I am getting it fixed this Thurs and want to be prepared.

sounds like either your serpentine belt or your tensioner pulley seized up... 100 for the tensioner, 40 for the belt, and about 100 dollars labor

Worn out fan belt; either that or it's loose. Either way, get it replaced.
