No, you cannot do that! The bag of waters is a protective enclosure for the baby. It either has to rupture naturally or assisted by a physician during labor. Aside from long walks to bring on labor, anything she may try could be injurious to the baby and her own health.
Enjoy your day!

Realizing that pregnancy isn't always a picnic in the park, the baby's safety and health should come first. Since doctors can only estimate a due date, she may not be as far along as she thinks and thus put the baby's life in danger. If she's that uncomfortable or concerned she should be talking to her doctor about what she can do. As her friend, just reassure her that the baby will come when it's ready and that no one has given birth to a two-year old and you doubt she'll be the first! It'll be over before she knows it! Give her something else to do than focus on the waiting.....get some fabric paints and decorate some onesies, find the perfect book to read for baby's first story, or map out a route for taking walks after she's had the baby.

there are foods rumored to induce labor, and some hospitals have a drug that can induce labor if they think that baby must come out quicker. But at 38 weeks, it could seriously injure her or the baby if she forces the water to break in any way. Tell her to calm down and deal with it. She's been knocked up this long, she can wait another, what, 2-4 weeks?

First of all, she has four more weeks before it becomes imperative that the baby be delivered. Breaking the water not only opens you for infection and dry labor, but also if the baby's head is not fully engaged and ready to deliver, you can have a prolapsed cord (the umblical cord coming down the canal before the baby). At that point the baby faces not only high chances of death, but the small chance of survival without immediate health care will be faced with brain damage from lack of oxygen. Is an early birth really worth that?

tell your friend she shouldn't do it. as soon as your water breaks infection can get into the womb so don't break your water if she wants to induce her labor there are so many other ways to do it. do a search on the Internet on inducing labor. there are pressure points that work really well. there are some herbs that cause labor to start.
but DO NOT break your water.
good luck and tell your friend to be careful the baby will come relax and enjoy besides the longer she carries the baby the stronger the baby will be.

She does NOT want to do that...there are so many health risks to her doing so, if she does this and she does not go into labor then she will end up with a dry labor, OUCH...but she can also cause an infection!!!
Tell her that her body is not ready if its not sending her signals...and its best for the baby if she can just hold on until her body and baby are both ready for delivery!

There is no safe way to do unless done by a medical doctor. I understand how uncomfortable she is (Im almost 37 weeks) but she is just going to have to deal with it until either the baby is ready or the doc wants to induce her.

Its been proven that during innercourse it isn't possible!! So there went that thought.........And if she goes and does something really dangerous, she might pop the water, but also endanger her own baby and even possibly lose her own baby by getting impatient!! Dont you know that all of us women get the same way during the end of our pregnancy's?!! Yep, we sure do, but the only way she can speed things up is to talk to her doctor, about doing it for her!! That is if she has a cool doctor, she can!! My Mom came from out of state for the birth of my youngest daughter and had to get back home before all of her yards and plants died, right, so I asked my doctor if he could pop my water early for me, he did and she was 10 days early!! And he did everything safely and securely......so if she comes up with some sort of an aliby, , maybe she can talk to her doctor about it.. I was kind of mad however about my daughter having to be early.. My Mom kept making me nervous about going home, and I was afraid to have her alone, right.. But, my daughter was due on my Mom's birthday.....And I named her middle name after my Mom's first name....So, you'd of thought knowing her real due date was on her birthday she wouldn't have cared about her darn plants, and stayed instead of making me a nervous wreck, and allowed me to go about things the way they were suppose to be, you know.. Mom didn't know I had a talk with the doctor about popping my water, but I did it for her!! And for me, so I wouldn't have to be alone through the birth.. So, just have your friend have a talk with her doctor, instead, than that way things will be much safer for her and her baby!! But only if its almost time, for her to have this baby soon anyway's!!! Otherwise you all need to have a serious talk with her about endangering her baby, if she's nowhere near having this baby!! Good Luck to you guys!!
