This is true. You can have your period while pregnant. You can also have other types of bleeding while pregnant.
In two pregnancies’ I had what is called implantation bleeding which happed a few days before I would have gotten my normal period. The bleeding was much shorter than a normal period, but it threw me off both times. I didn't think I was pregnant when I was.
I also had very light random bleeding during my pregnancy, which concerned my doctors but didn't lead to any problems.
Bottom line: a period is not the only indicator of being pregnant or not.

What she really means is that you can have bleeding and still be pregnant, This happens all the time that a woman thinks she's getting her period, but she's pregnant. A period is the disposal of the unused egg and uterus lining. If that happened while you were pregnant then it would be a miscarriage since the lining is needed to sustain a pregnancy. Women who say they had their period while pregnant are mislabeling the bleeding. We're just used to calling bleeding down there a period, and forget that a period is actual a label for a specific kind of bleeding.

You are able to get pregnant during the month before you get your first period. So unprotected sex is never a good idea (unless you are trying to get pregnant.)
As I'm sure you know, a skipped period is a pretty clear sign of pregnancy. So if you are have your period, you aren't pregnant. This can get a bit tricky with young girls who haven't become regular, they can be pregnant without realising since they don't know when they were expecting their period. Of course girls that young shouldn't be having sex. There are plenty of other smoochy type activities to do instead that don't cause pregnancy.

If you think there is a good chance you're pregnant, get checked out or wait a bit and buy a pregnancy test. Having your period is no indication of being or not being pregnant in the early stage.

Well, no, you can't get your period once you're pregnant — once your body starts producing the hormone hCG and your pregnancy is established, your menstrual cycle is interrupted and normal periods stop. But you may have bleeding or spotting during pregnancy that can seem like a period.

Some women who are pregnant do bleed, but it's unusual, and they rarely bleed very much. If you're having a regular period, you're probably not pregnant.

Probably saying that to scare you....it's not impossible...but it is uncommon.
Like how my health teacher told me that if I had sex I'd get an STD and die.
