I have about 661 music files in one folder, and I plan on adding more, so do you think that it's not such a good idea? It takes about 5-7 seconds to open the file, and during that time, it makes the cursor look like this

Not likely. I have over 30gb worth of music in a single folder on my machine.

This is not what causes a crash.
The "hourglass" symbol means that Windows is working. The normal cursor returns when Windows is finished.

Why put so many files in one folder? Don't you want to organize them better, that is, categorize them and create folders for different categories or "artists."
