you are more likely to conceive in the middle of your cycle, as this is when women typically ovulate. your cycle could be different all the time though. It is possible to ovulate while still menstruating, or just after finishing menstruation.

If you are comfortable having sex during your period, then go for it.

if you are trying to not get pregnant, then either abstain or invest in birth control. using the pill in conjunction with condoms is about 99.99% accurate at preventing pregnancy and spreading STDs

If you don't want to be pregnant, than you should always use protection, but the chances of getting pregnant while on your period are slim to none. This is because the egg is being disposed of and can no longer be fertilized. Even if the sperm lived for 5 days 99% of women would not have ovulated that soon, as it takes about 2 weeks to prepare the egg for ovulation, so you would most likely not get pregnant as a result of sex during a period either. There's always a small chance though, so like I said use protection.

You can have sex at any time, and possibly get pregnant at any time, but your period IS NOT your most fertile time. Go to www.mymonthlycycles.com and find out how your fertility works.
