I have four pets. Two outside dogs, and two inside cats. Before we moved in the house was empty for two years except for a cat that the previous owners left, which im positive brought the fleas in. Now how do I get them out?

You can try foggers, or use a flea killer spray (you can get it at Walmart, Target, etc in the pet aisle.) on all carpeted or upholstered things in your house, including your mattresses. Be sure to pull all cushions and pillows from your couches or chairs and spray under them. Remember to let them dry before you sit or sleep on them. If this doesn't work, talk to your vet. They have stronger products that you can't buy at the store. Be sure to bathe your animals in flea shampoo and use flea prevention. I have tried Frontline, but it seems to quit working after a few months. Revolution works great, and it has heartworm preventative in it also.

Firstly, don't bother with anything from pet shops or supermarkets. Just a waste of money really. It's not that vet products are 'stronger', they're just different drugs - and in fact they're often safer.

I recommend Frontline Plus. This is a product that will kill all fleas on your pets within 24 hours, and will prevent more fleas from hatching out in the environment because it kills flea eggs too. However since fleas are already present in your house, you will need to spray it first - recommend getting a product from the vets and spraying then vacuuming the next day, and repeating this process a few days later. Once the fleas are gone, regular use of Frontline Plus will keep them off your pet and out of your house.

Get salt (like for snow) spread it around on the carpet, take your broom and sweep it around so it will break up in the carpet. Leave it! it will dehydrate them. Wait about a week, vacuum and repeat. Keep your dogs treated and that should clear your home. Good Luck
