Does anyone know of a website were I can buy cheap plain fabric remnants? I am making a collection of small character shaped cushions for my sons room and need plain fabric, maybe only a meter each of the following colours: blue, purple, orange, red, pink, lime green and dark green. Has to be cheap and plain (no patterns). UK only sites pls. Many many thanks!!

You will find a lot of small pieces of fabric on Ebay, but the remnant bin in your local fabric store will give you the best choices. Also, don't be afraid to ask around to anyone you know who sews. People always have smaller pieces in their stash that they don't want to throw away, but would be willing to give away for a good cause.

Our local newspaper has a section where you can write and ask different questions, and one woman got a lot of free fabric just for asking. She even admitted she's using it to make things that she wants to sell, and people still gave it to her for nothing, just to get her started in business.

Ebay may be your best choice for finding what you want at the price you desire. Many quilters and hobby sewers get rid of excess fabric this way.

you can typically get them for cheap or free from your local fabric shop (most people use them in quilts) the one in town has them for like a nickle each, or you could try freecycle.com
