I agree 100%.

The Left doesn't realize that if we leave the War in Iraq up to the Iraqis at this stage, then the war will shift to U.S. soil.

Just because we may not want to fight them any more doesn't mean that THEY don't wand to fight US any more.

And also, Iraq is just the chosen battle ground for this war. It could just have easily been fought anywhere in the Middle East, but Iraq is where our enemies have met us.

As I recall about the Iraq thing, didn't the UN send resolution after resolution to have Iraq only ignore the efforts for peace? Didn't Iraq openly invade another country with no plans to leave that country? And didn't Iraq openly attack a second country with no retaliation?

Iraq started the war that we are finishing. We should have completed removing the problem under Bush I, but we are an honest nation that abided by the UN's demands. And look what it got us. 9/11

Yes there is proof that Iraq was involved in 9/11, but only as a very minor player. The bigger problem with Iraq is that it allowed those who committed 9/11 to gain strength and training.

As for peace, why doesn't that religion of peace promote peace first and then we will remove ourselves from their business? Religion of peace my butt!!!!

And for those who blame our failed foriegn policy or say that the US is a bully, who was it that saved this planet not once but twice? This is the greatest country there has ever been and sometimes we have to kick a little butt to help establish peace. One day the religion of peace and liberals will understand that.

there became into no attack on Pakistan so do no longer tutor the whole lack of understanding. President Obama is doing what he promised ... he's doing what Bush would desire to have carried out directly after 9/11 if he became into relatively severe approximately going after Bin Ladin and removing Islamic fundamentalist terrorism. The Afghanistan/Pakistani border is the place Bin Ladin continues to be holed out with the Taliban education a clean lot of youthful extremist muslims with hate against the west interior the madrassi colleges for the duration of this section. If Bush and his incompetent cronies had centred on doing this job actual rather of arising much extra hate from the mess they made in Iraq the whole international could be a safer place!

The best way to protect our country and its allies is to adopt a foreign policy that doesn't inspire terrorist attacks against us. 9/11 happened because of America's close association with Saudi Arabia and by hitting us Bin Laden thought that we would either leave Saudi Arabia, or overreact angering Muslims in the middle east and causing more people to support Bin Laden and his cause. The latter has happened, and while it is every country's right to determine its own foreign policy, every nation will reap the rewards and suffer the consequences of that foreign policy.

We established relations with Saudi Arabia in 1944 because FDR feared a confrontation with the Soviet Union after ww2 and wanted to start building the broadest anti soviet alliance possible. That relationship evolved into the economic realm with Saudi Arabia acting as a swing state for oil, increasing the supplies when other OPEC nations try to decrease them. For this they receive American military protection. So 9/11 isn't a result of a Napoleonic ambition of world conquest by America like many people claim, but out of the fears of communist imperialism that the USSR proved it would promote since 1919.

The war on terror is in Afghanistan not Iraq and Bin Laden is still on the loose or did the Right forget? As for our allies --- Bush made sure that we alienated all of them with his mastery of foreign policy and diplomacy.

Unfortunately this debate on the war has been taken to such hostility that the left will never see our belief that we must be attacking terrorism at all levels.

Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11.
And 9/11 itself was the answer to our horrendous foreign policy. We need to stop being a bully and stop putting other countries' interests ahead of our own.
