Well when I was pregnant, the main things in my diet included Shrimp and Crab legs. I ate either or at least twice a week and not a small serving either. Well my baby is fine! He's a perfect and healthy little boy. My doctor just told me to stay away from a lot of fish especially tuna becuase it can contain mercury. You're fine. Enjoy your shrimp and crab!!

Eggs are great for you. I ate tons of them in my first trimester for protein because I developed an aversion to meat.
As for the shrimp, it's FINE. One of the lowest mercury level fish, actually. Don't each it ALL the time, but it's okay to have every now and then, and I would steer clear of the fried stuff, cause' it's bad for you anyways (but SOOO good lol).
I think people are a bit overboard these days on the food paranoia, food allergies, etc. What do you think pregnant women who live on islands eat when they're pregnant. Mostly shellfish, you got it. As long as you eat everything in moderation, you should be good to go. Good luck, you're almost there!!

It shouldn't harm your baby.. As long as it is cooked well you are fine and so is your baby. The fish they tell you NOT to eat is fish like sword fish, king fish, shark, and just to LIMIT your intake on seafood. But usually it doesn't hurt the baby or you to eat more than 2 oz. I was actually watching a show on TLC this morning called "pregnancy for dummies" both doctors on there were not worried at all for women eating seafood. Just make sure it's cooked really well.
As for eggs.. They are a good nutrition. I can't even stand the sight or smell of eggs right now feel lucky lol (im almost 33 weeks along)

Sea food should be limited for pregnant women not because it might cause allergies in the baby but because it often contains mercury, which can harm the baby's development. Shrimp and crab, however, don't really accumulate much mucury, so there's no need to be too worried. Stay awa from sea food like sword fish or any fish high on the food chain,, because they accumulate the most murcury.

I hardly ate Peanut butter or peanuts. One of mine is allergic to that. No other food allergies except red dye #40. Shrimp does have a lot of cholesterol and popcorn shrimp is fried. Salmon and tuna like fishes have a lot of mercury and should be avoided or restricted somewhat. Just eat healthy. I would avoid things like artificial sweeteners and a lot of salt. Always follow the DR.

I am so glad you asked this . I ate shrimp every day almost, when I was pregnant. My son is very allergic to them. I did not realize it at the time. That was over 20 years ago. His eyes and lips swells some awful if he eats them now. and he loves sea foods. I now Know it's my fault. I feel really bad for him, to be deprived of something he loves so much.
