It's about 11 years old so I put it out on the patio.
I'd like to wax it with some type of leather dye or other experimental mixture that will give the brick red leather
more of a burgundy color, then oil it to make it a bit more water resistant.
Would a mixture of linseed oil and turpentine do it? I'd like the smell.
And remember, the dye would need to be something that wouldn't rub off, so that's why I'm not so sure about shoe dye.
It's not worth it to pay a professional; I see it as an art project, and would like suggestions...

Can I rub dark red shoewax all over it, let it dry, brush it off and spray it with something or put oil on top of that to keep the color from rubbing off on clothes?

How about Old English furniture polish in red? I know people use Pledge on leather. Call the leather places and ask nicely what they use to color the leather.

Myself i would just use regular old saddle soap to clean and keep the leather protected. You can get a can of it from TSC or a farming type store or any store that sell horse supplies.I use it on my leather coats and chaps.
