No deal is a good one if you do not get legitimate software and a seller who offers good support.

Both laptops you looked at appear to be good and I trust SONY as well as you can trust a seller.

It looks like you want a lot of bells and whistles with a lot of RAM.

A few weeks ago I picked up a Toshiba laptop for $399, including a free printer, however, it only has 512mb RAM. I am not into games, movies, and such so it is sufficient for my needs. I use my computers for serious work and so far have had no problem. I have no wallpaper and have set the screensaver to blank. This frees up memory. If you are going to play games - which are mostly graphics, which consume memory, you may very well need more RAM than I.

Why don't you print out the specs of both laptops and make a side-by-side comparison?

The second one is better. They both have the same chipset (Intel 945), the same amount of RAM, same hard drive size, same screen, the same sound and video (comes from the 945 chipset) however, the second one from Best Buy has a better processor (T2450 vs. T2350) and comes with Vista Home Premium, which is a better choice for a consumer than is Vista Business.

I'd go with the one from Best Buy.
If nothing else because they will back up their products with good warranties. Buying online from a smaller retailer is always a gamble.

Well it depends on what you want to do with it. They both sound like very good computers though If I had enough money for either of these computers then I would Buy comp. # 1. simply because I am into emulation and need a faster computer.

The second one is the best deal... i got the same one a few months ago and i paid twice that price for it from Future shop. I'd go with the second one from best buy.

the best place to get a laptop is http://www.craigslist.com click on your state where you live on the right side and click on the nearest city and then click on computer, there's some good laptop or computer to buy from the seller...that's where i got mine and it's a really good deal
