I broke the stick on my car in my hand its in 1st gear?

I broke the stick on my car in my hand its in 1st gear?
the stick is floppy and only moves around the 1st gear and N areas it wont go anywhere else idk what happened all i know is that something is broken its a 1993 ford explorer

Sounds like a pin in the shifter either came loose or broke off

I know what you mean, I've been stuck holding my floppy stick in my hand and nowhere to go, normally happens when I'm broke too.
