Although its not everybody, most people marry people with the similar skin color, culture, and economic background (e.g. White marry White, Black marry Black, Hispanic marry Hispanic, Asian marry Asian) Even though there are more interracial marriages then before, it still represents a small minority of all marriages. Why do we marry our own race instead of other races more?

Americans truly do not experience culture outside of themselves. And people do not understand what they do not know. And most people do not want to experience outside their culture. As I know and you do as well, their are difficults that you have a to overcome with dating interracial. Nothing serious, but most people just want an easy ride.

I think most people marry within their own race because that's where the available potential mates are. The fact that there is more interracial pairing now than in past years is because of better social integration overall.

NOTE: I am of an age (56) to remember signs in businesses: "Whites Only"; "No Coloreds Allowed"; "***** Waiting Room" and similar profanity. When I am made Supreme Emperor of the Known Universe, one of my first edicts will be to eliminate race as a classification altogether. It's just pointless.

i don't feel people who marry in someone of their own race do it intentionally. I just feel that inter-racial marriages are those people who have evolved far enough to co-inside with the theory of "survival of the species". I hate to compare humans to animals but as an EXAMPLE i have had full bread dogs........u know the family tree doesnt fork very often........ and not totally inbread but very close to the breah bloodline. Those dogs turn out to be the most sickly, mentally disturbed, health problematic dogs i have ever had. Now i have rescued a few totally mixed breed dogs (mutts) from the humane society and they have virtually no health problems and are some of the best dogs i have ever had. Point is the more you mix the blood ...........the more the species evolves. Mabee we are only sencing our demise as races or as humans and this is the effort we are subconciously making for our survival..........................and to continue bamma sweetie makes alot of sense. well done.

Most people marry someone similar to themselves in attractiveness, maturity, intelligence, and individuation.

That we generally choose from our own race has more to do with the social circle of individuals we tend to meet.

I guess, people feel more comfortable with what they know, especially the cultural thing, color not so much and even economic background is not that important compared to cultural.

These days I say its more of a "finding interest in a common or similar culture" thing. I still think racism is present but not a dominating mindset as in generations past

many times people have difficulty relating to people of a different race on a romantic level. that usually cuts off any chance at a relationship.

also, there is racial loyalty. in families where grandparents, uncles, aunts, etc. are present and respected there is little chance of a multi racial relationship partly because that act is seen as betrayal of the family and partyly because of the family's difficulty relating to the other person's family.

A lot of people also marry other people from the same social class / level of education and wealth, from the same area they grew up, who have similar interests. I suppose it's just about somebody you feel familiar with.
