I have been working for my company for a year now. I started out handeling Accounts Payable and started helping with payroll. I eventually moved into helping with Human Resources. With our company growing I was not able to keep up with both positions effectivley and they hired someone to take over the Accounts Payable and I will be the Human Resources Assistant.

I am upset because they girl they have hired to do my old job is making roughly $11,000 more per year than I was to do the same position. I got 1% in April for increased duties. It feels like a slap in the face. I am handeling confidential information and the work is alot harder and I am making $11,000 less than the girl who has my old job. I feel like it is a great learning experience and will help me in the future but how do I get over what they are paying her. I asked for more money and they told me it wasnt in the budget. Should I look for another job? I love it here. :( I really hate this.

Sorry to say this, but if she has a degree in accounting and/or experience, she will be paid more than you. Accounting positions actually pay more than assistant positions. Just the luck of the straw.

Talk to the manager of Human Resources first. Find out why there is such a difference in salary. If you don't get a satisfactory answer, look for another job.

This smells like rotten fish. Why are they paying her more money than you? Does she have more education or experience than you? It doesnt make sense that she is taking over your old job, but she is making more than you did. There is more to this story than what you are telling us.
