I do feel that we are much better off without a coach and coach-related controversies. That keeps the media focussed on the team all the time and the players have too much pressure on their minds. What do you think?

its too early to decide whether the indian team is better off without a coach since it is only one series that they have won
. Lets say if india had or actually did(i dunno) won there first series with Greg Chappel it wud have been wrong to say that Greg Chappel is a very good coach for the indian team . So lets wait and watch that if the Indian team also wins some other matches without a coach and then only can we decide tht if the Indian team is better off without a coach

Not necessarily. If there is a (W)right coach the result would be better. He will definitely be a help in picking up the defects, sharpening the players, improving relations and evolving strategy.
We should not read too much into this victory except that the team is on the right course to become a winning combination.
The positives are:1)the fighting qualities were apparent 2)Piyush chawla has come good 3)the team spirit is back.
In all the three matches the team batting second have won.
The bowling especially in the second half has to improve. The complacency is still there if you look how Dravid got run out unwilling even to bend and ground the bat in time.

The Indian team did have a coach (nowadays he is known as the Manager) in Chandu Borde. We also had two others, Venkatesh Prasad (for bowling) and Robin Singh (fielding). The advantage the side had with Borde was that he never for once tried to be imposing or created coteries like Greg Chappel did. As a result the members of the team lacked the back-stabbing and deceitful mentality which was evident during Chappel's tenure. The boys played as a team and this worked wonders for the side. Also Borde did not "experiment" which GC did to the detriment of Indian cricket.

Ideally from now on we should have an Indian at the top for both home and away series. Amarnath, Patil, Shastri are no way inferior to the Whatmore's, Ford's or Moody's.

To responder Raj S, thank you for the laugh! You are ofcourse also very right. We are not only better off without a coach but the bulk of the present team need to go. Age, creaking bones, jaded timing are all beginning to show. Personally I liked the last coach, he had it in him to call a spade a spade, and didn't the majority of the Indians agree with him. That Team India played WC as if victory was automatically theirs was hardly the coach's fault.

Coach is not responsible for current team performance. Coach controversies are only for hide the mistake of BCCI & team.
You are right that media pressurized the players. They make the player as icon on the paper who never be defeated. This make the batsmen under pressure. Win over S.A. is a little step of rising of team . Team needs more efforts to raise the team where we proud of them. Coach can't win the match only team work can do . Last world cup performance is not a fault of coach .

Not absolutely right. But it creates difference if Coach is not right person. The victory was a Team work, I hope Rahul keeps team work instead of playing game against player like Ganguli or Sachin. This time he selected best 11 and so he won. To win for country matters not the politics or friendship among players.

We are a better team without a coach b/c when we had that guy...he created differences between the players and also fought with players like sachin and ganguly verbally. We also got out of the second round of the world cup b/c the team wasnt focused because of the coach. We are winning matches since he resigned.

the two have been large run chases. India gained after chasing 387 to win. Virender Sehwag's innings replaced into the turning element in that journey. And Tendulkar performed a masterful knock and Yuvraj performed the perfect help place. South Africa replaced into chasing 414. there's no lots distinction between the two targets, and South Africa had adequate time to chase it down. They mandatory a delicate initiate. even however they lost Neil McKenzie, Smith & Amla prepare a robust partnerships and AB de Villers alongside with Kallis & then with Duminy lead the gang to victory. India had the homestead income; South Africa replaced into enjoying in rival's territory, the place their record replaced into dismal, and that they've been enjoying the international Champions (as consistent with ICC try scores). India, even interior the absence of Ganguly & undesirable run of Dravid, has a great middle order. i'm going to could desire to evaluate South Africa's chase a splash (as low as a speck) greater suitable than India's.

well they didn't play like they are above everyone...they played with passion and enthusiasm and dove on the field for the balls.

They played smart when they had to and they played aggressively when they had to

overall im happy for them for their progress since their poor showing at the world cup and bangladesh

i don't think a true coach is needed...they are being coached by a committe of like 4-5 former players so that should do

as long as that is working they should continue to use that system

after all they beat the no. 2 team in the world in south africa
