BaseballReference.com provides the ten oldest players per season, and here they are for 2007, oldest first:
Franco, Clemens, Moyer, Wells, Johnson, Bonds, Rogers, Roberto Hernandez, Finley (released and likely done), and Orlando Hernandez.
Others I can think of quickly: Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz, Mesa, Biggio, Schilling, Stanton, Vizquel, Lofton, Conine, Alou, Wakefield, Woody Williams, Cormier. Might be a few others, but that's 24 so far.
Luis Gonzalez hits 40 in September.
Trevor Hoffman, in October.

Not sure. But I believe there are 8 of them. They all played last Wednesday setting a major league record for most players over 40 playing on a given day.
Pls someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Its more than 8, but I don't have an exact number. I would put it into the neighborhood of 25-30 guys, but thats a guess. Here's my all-star team of guy in their 40's....
C - Sandy Alomar, Jr....I think he's still floating around somewhere....serisouly though catchers don't play that long.
1B - Julio Franco....not that great anymore, but he's so old I have to give it to him.
2B - Craig Biggio...gotta give to the guy who jst go t 3,000 hits.
SS - Omar Vizquel....still getting it done after turning 40 in April.
3B - None over 40...so I'm giving it George Brett, he looks he could still play when they show him on Royals games...
OF - Barry Bonds....speaks for himself
OF - Moises Alou...paired with Bonds for the oldest outfield ever a few years ago.
OF - Steve Finley....more of a part timer now, but he's still good.
SP - Clemens, Johnson, Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz
You could throw in Jamie Moyer too if you wanted
Closer - Hoffman...he doesn't turn 40 until the playoffs, but I'm counting it.
There are a lot of relief pitchers in the over 40 club as well.

How many exactly, but most of them except for maybe Julio Franco who is 49, are pitchers...
Here are the ones I thought of... Randy Johnson, Roger Clemmens, Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, John Smoltz, Kenny Rogers, Jamie Moyer, Roberto Hernandez, hmmm must be missing somebody... how old is Marquis Grissom, and is he even still playing?
