Does being in a social context change the way you think or act? (beyond mere perfunctory gestures of manner)

Even online in a forum like Y!A, did you act differently when you had complete annonymity compared to when you have online 'friends' and 'contacts' watching. C'mon be honest now.

Is a little bit of 'rudeness' required to maintain your individuality and complete honesty?

OK jen, you brought up an interesting point - does rudeness require intention? (four for one?) I'm not sure it does. Don't you mean an 'insult' or maybe that can be unintended also.

This is 3 questions for the price of one! 1. Being abroad even if it's only online requires different behaviour from that you might show to friends and family. 2. I still have anonymity because this is not a chatroom and I don't have contacts for that reason. 3. Sometimes bluntness is a good thing when putting a point across and it isn't the same as rudeness which is intentionally insulting. Rudeness isn't necessary either online or socially.

What's life without a (small) megalomaniac set of pliers of our own?

No, why should it; I have no need to lie, especially to myself, lying to oneself is the worst lie of all.
