Why are my tomatoes getting black spots on them, and how do I stop it from spreading?

My tomatoes are getting black spots on them while they are still green. Then the spot continues to grow, eating away at my tomates before they ripen on the vine. The ones that do turn red get all mushy before they are ready to be picked.

Part of the problem is probably over-watering. The other is called blossom end rot and shows a need for calcium. Add some gypsum to the soil.
